How do I subscribe for MessageCentral Text Alerts via my mobile phone?

It’s easy!

If the service you wish to subscribe to is a PUSH service, simply type a START SERVICE text message, e.g. START NEWS or START SPORTS, and send to 6839999. You will receive a confirmation message, and will immediately begin receiving broadcasts from the selected service, according to the specified schedule.

NB. You will need to repeat for each service to which you wish to subscribe.

If the service you wish to subscribe to is a PULL service, simply type a GET SERVICE text message, e.g. GET MOVIETOWNE, and send to 6839999. You will immediately receive the latest available information from the selected service.

NB. You will only receive the information once, and will need to repeat each time you wish to receive information from the service.

What is the difference between PUSH and PULL Services?

PUSH Information Services are those that are broadcast at specific times, according to a specified schedule. You are required to subscribe to a PUSH service in order to receive information on your mobile phone.

PULL Information Services are those that can be retrieved at any time upon request. You are not required to subscribe to a PULL service.
